A man is wanted by the Charleston Police Department on several charges, including fleeing from a police officer.

According to the Charleston Police Department, James Ray Cummings, 40, is wanted on warrants for felony receiving or transferring stolen goods and felony fleeing from a police officer.

According to police, Cummings is accused of being in possession of a side by side that was stolen from the 7000 block of MacCorkle Avenue valued at around $10,000 Saturday.

Police say that later that day, police attempted to stop Cummings in the side by side on Bigley Avenue, but Cummings evaded the officer’s attempts to stop him and he drove the side by side in a manner with what police call ‘reckless indifference’.

Cummings abandoned the side by side and fled on foot and was unable to locate Cummings.

Cummings is believed to be homeless and may be staying with someone on the West Side of Charleston.

Anyone with information regarding Cummings’ whereabouts is asked to call the Charleston Police Department at 304-348-8111.
