Peggy Fisher has been sworn in as the new Glasgow mayor. Wayne Armstrong officially stepped down from office, citing his parent’s failing health and the recent arrest of his daughter.
Fisher had been serving as city recorder since 2016, so according to city code, she is authorized to step in as acting mayor.
Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper sworn-in Fisher during a media tour of new early voting locations.
Fisher says the Glasgow City Council will now decide if they want Fisher to remain as the official mayor, or select another person to replace Armstrong.
