Primary election votes have been recounted in Nicholas County after the clerk found that early votes had been counted twice.
About 1,300 voters cast their ballot in the early voting period. Those votes were double-counted. The Nicholas County Clerk caught the error and notified officials with the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office.
County election staff ran election numbers again Friday afternoon. They will also conduct routine canvassing Monday night.
While all results are still “unofficial” until Monday night’s canvassing, it is believed that the outcome of each race has not changed.
