Paramedic Killed in Following Two Vehicle Crash Involving Ambulance

A paramedic has been killed following a two vehicle crash involving an ambulance.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a two vehicle fatal crash occurred on State Route 93 near milepost 12 in Jackson County on Friday evening around 6:45 p.m.

The OSHP reports that Jennifer Cross and the driver of a Portsmouth Ambulance Services vehicle were responding to an emergency call southbound on State Route 93.

The two were traveling with emergency lights on when a vehicle traveling northbound went left of center and was struck by the Portsmouth Ambulance.

Cross was transported to Holzer Medical Center in Jackson where she was pronounced dead.

The two drivers were also transported to Holzer with non-life threatening injuries. They were both released.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to OSHP.

No charges have been filed. We will continue to update this story with new information as soon as we receive it.
