Parkersburg Mexican Restaurant Sees Support After Woman's Racist Rant Goes Viral

PARKERSBURG, WV (WOWK) – A video of a customer’s racist rant towards the general manager of Tampico, a Mexican restaurant in Parkersburg, WV, has gone viral.

In the video, the woman is seen cursing at the general manager because she overheard him speaking Spanish.

The video has received national attention and the community is showing its support for the restaurant and its employees.

In the video, the woman is heard saying:

“English is our first language, so you need to speak English!  Get the f**k out of my country!”

We spoke to the general manager, Sergio Budar about the incident.

“How am I going to get out of your country if this is my country? It’s the same country as yours,” Budar said.

Budar says you can hear in the video that he was saying “I’m sorry,” but it was not an apology.

“I was saying I’m sorry about you, I feel sorry for how you are.”

Since the video was posted the community has rallied around Beudar, the restaurant, and its employees.

Brian Harrel is a regular at Tampico.

“So when we see our community rally around this family and this group of people, I think it makes all of us feel good about being here, because we don’t have a lot of diversity here, but this shows the community is standing up for anybody and everybody,” Harrel said.

“Please, you’re looking at me. I’m talking in English. I’m a US citizen. I’m providing jobs for this community and before in another state, I don’t know what else I can do,” Budar said.

Since being posted the video has more than 10,000 shares and more than 1,000,000 views.
