Police: Charleston shooting may be related to recent killing

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Police in West Virginia say a shooting in Charleston may be related to a recent killing.

The Charleston Police Department says officers early Monday found 30-year-old David Evans at a house in the West Side neighborhood with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Evans says he and a woman were walking to the house from a convenience store when shots start ringing out. The pair says they didn’t see a shooter.

Police say the incident “appears to be related” to the killing of Ronald Seawright Jr., who was found dead earlier this month with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities say 35-year-old Gerard Matthew Spencer is wanted in the killing of Seawright but say Spencer may have fled the state and gone up to New York.
