Police: Suspect used brother’s name during arrest after leading CPD on pursuit

Local News

It’s a twist to a story we first brought you Sunday

We originally reported that police said Joseph Sneed, 23,  was arrested after leading Charleston Police on a pursuit through Kanawha County.

The pursuit began at Spring Hill Cemetary and ended in Sanderson, which is in the northern portion of the county.

It turns out, Sneed gave authorities his brother’s name, officers said Wednesday.

The man who led police on that pursuit, they said, is Brandon Joe Sneed, 19, of Charleston.

An officer was able to discover the suspect’s true identity as he was being released from the hospital early this morning, they said.

Sneed was transferred to the hospital orginially because officers said as he was being taken into custody after the pursuit, he swallowed an unknown amount of meth.

Brandon Sneed is now being held at South Central Regional Jail.
