CHARLESTON, W.Va (WOWK) – After speaking with Appalachian Power officials this morning there is the potential that some Kanawha Countians will be without power through Thursday, the Kanawha County Commission announced.  Commission President Kent Carper stated, “I spoke with Appalachian Power officials this morning and was advised that the majority of those without power in Kanawha County should see restoration by Wednesday, however, there will be some who will remain without power through Thursday.  I have been assured by representatives that additional crews are being brought into the area to help with restoration.”

Officials stated that 40 additional contract crews have been brought into Kanawha County to assist with restoration with an additional 10-20 coming from other parts of the State.  Most of the issues stem from Distribution Circuit outages.  The damage is significant, according to Appalachian Power.

As of 9:30 AM Monday, around 20,000 AEP customers are without power in the region.
