Troopers Identify the 2 Killed, 4 Injured in Kanawha County Crash

MALDEN, WV (WOWK) – Emergency crews responded to the scene of a deadly two-vehicle crash in Malden, West Virginia yesterday evening. 

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department says two people are dead and four people suffered critical injuries in the crash.

West Virginia State Police say that on Wednesday, February 27th, 2019 at around 4:40 pm they responded to a 911 call of a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 60 near the intersection of Jonquil Drive. 

Troopers say a vehicle being operated by April Cook was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 60 when a vehicle being operated by Trevor Blake Davis, of Glasgow, was traveling Eastbound on Route 60, crossed the median and struck Cook’s vehicle head on.

According to troopers, a passenger in Cook’s vehicle, identified as 39-year-old Brian Cook, was entrapped and later pronounced dead. A juvenile in Cook’s vehicle was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Cook, Davis and two occupants of Davis’s vehicle, identified Chaz Davis and Brian Short were all listed in critical condition.

This investigation is on-going.

Both westbound lanes and eastbound lanes of Route 60 were shut down for hours after the crash.
