A man has been charged after a pedestrian was struck in Kanawha County.
Emergency crews responded to the 500 block of Hampshire Drive Monday evening after deputies say Robert Eads, of Saint Albans, drove onto Hampshire Drive at a high speed, prompting residents to yell at him to slow down.
Eads then drove back toward them and attempted to run over people near the road.
He then turned around and came back again at an even higher rate of speed, drove through a chain link fence into a yard, and struck two people with his vehicle, causing injuries.
Deputies say witnesses removed Eads from the vehicle and a fight ensued before taking off.
He was found a short time later by deputies in the woods where he briefly fought with them before being handcuffed and taken to an area hospital for treatment to his own injuries.
Deputies say Eads will face criminal charges for his conduct upon his release from the hospital. The pedestrian injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.
