UPDATE: Deputies Arrest Fatal Rand Shooting Suspect

UPDATE (3/6/19):

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office reports that Gerard Malcolm Maxwell, 32, of Rand, WV was arrested last night near Atlanta, GA.

This follows an ongoing investigation. Maxwell has been wanted for murder of Marian Janye Chapman, 27, of South Charleston, who was shot and killed.

ORIGINAL (1/15/19):

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect considered armed and extremely dangerous after a fatal shooting in Rand.

It happened on the 300 block of Clemson Avenue.

Deputies say late last night they obtained a warrant for Gerard Malcolm Maxwell, 32, of Rand, charging him with murder.

Dispatchers say deputies responded after multiple shots were heard in the area just before 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday.

A woman, later Marian Janyne Chapman, 27, of South Charleston, was shot at least one time and was taken to the hospital where she later died.
