Update: Man Rescued After Jumping into Kanawha River

UPDATE: 5/10/2019 @ 7:55 p.m.

A man has been successfully rescued by fire crews after jumping into the Kanawha River. 

The original report of him jumping was received just after 7 p.m. on the Kanawha River near Venture Lanes.

Fire crews swiftly mobilized and were able to successfully rescue him a short time later.

The man was not injured in the incident.

A water rescue is ongoing in Kanawha County.

The water rescue is taking place on the Kanawha River behind Venture Lanes Bowling Alley.

Dispatchers say a man jumped into the river and is reportedly clinging to a tree branch.

Fire crews are attempting to locate the man. Saint Albans, South Charleston, and Jefferson Volunteer Fire Departments are searching for the man by boat.
