UPDATE: Vigil arranged for doctor killed in Nicholas County murder-suicide

UPDATE 09.24.18:

A candlelight vigil will be held this wednesday, september 26th, 2018 at Webster County Memorial Hospital in honor of Dr. Luke McElwain. 

The service is set for 7 P.M. Wednesday, and transportation will be provided by the The Webster County Board of Education for people attending. The bus will leave from the Pentecostal Church/Depot around 5:15 P.M., and will transport people to and from the service.

UPDATE 09.22.18:

CRAIGSVILLE, WV (WVNS) – The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a murder-suicide that happened at a GoMart in Craigsville.

According to a release, Vonly Ray York of Shady Spring, shot Luke Mcelwain on Friday September 21, 2018 during a child exchange. When deputies arrived on scene, York turned the gun and fatally shot himself.

Police said Mcelwain and York died on scene.

NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Two people have been shot in Craigsville, West Virginia

Nicholas County dispatchers say there is one victim and one suspect.

It happened in the Go-Mart parking lot in the town, in the afternoon of Friday, September 21st, 2018. 

We have a crew headed to the scene.
