The West Virginia Department of Education hosted their 3rd Public Education Reform Forum at Capitol High School Wednesday night.
Wednesday’s meeting is just one of eight public forums planned as part of prepartions for the upcoming special legislation session.
Governor Jim Justice calling this special session to address teacher pay raises and other educations… all of that after controversy surrounding the omnibus education reform bill which lead to a two day strike.
According to Governor Justice, he’s hoping that these public forums will allow legislators to meet with teachers and parents before returning for the special session.
In addition to the public forums — the Department of Education wiill also offer seperate online surveys for parents, educator, and students…
The Department of Education will also host forums in Kanawha, Ohio, McDowell, Morgan, Ohio and Harrison Counties. The next forum will be held tomorrow in Raleigh County.
