A West Virginia resident was cited by police after TSA officers detected a loaded handgun in the man’s carry-on bag at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Tuesday.

It is the 10th gun that TSA officers have detected at the airport, which at the current pace would surprise the airport’s record number of 16 in a year.

The .380 caliber handgun, was loaded with eight bullets, including one in the chamber.

A TSA officer spotted the handgun in the checkpoint X-ray machine, contacted the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Police, who arrived at the checkpoint, confiscated the gun and cited the man, a resident of Lewisburg, West Virginia, on a state weapons charge.
