Kentucky State Police troopers are investigating an officer-involved shooting after a domestic disturbance in Carter County.
On Friday night around 11:20 p.m., troopers responded on Damron Mayo Road following a report of a physical altercation between a woman and a family member.
When they arrived to the scene, they did not initially find anyone, but determined that the woman was hiding in the back of the home they responded to, possibly carrying a gun,
As troopers approached the home, the suspect confronted them, which resulted in law enforcement firing shots. The female subject was killed, due to injuries she sustained as a result of the shooting.
Neither the suspect’s nor the involved troopers’ names are being released at this time.
The investigation is ongoing by members of the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team.
