LINCOLN HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) – Authorities say a 16-year-old boy has been shot and killed in suburban Cincinnati.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil says sheriff’s deputies responded shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday to a reported shooting in the village of Lincoln Heights, roughly 15 miles (24 kilometers) north of Cincinnati. A release from the sheriff’s office says deputies found 16-year-old Melvin Dean had been shot.

Dean was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office release says authorities are searching for a 21-year-old man they suspect of shooting Dean while in a vehicle.

Authorities haven’t commented on a possible motive in the shooting.
