Man Who Pleaded Guilty to Stalking, Killing Woman Sentenced

Body Found

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) – A man who pleaded guilty to killing an Ohio woman after stalking her for months has been sentenced to life in prison with parole possible after 17 1/2 years.

A judge sentenced 30-year-old Michael Strouse on Wednesday in Butler County in Ellen Weik’s death. Strouse said in court that he never wanted to hurt anybody and “would trade places” with Weik if he could.

Strouse pleaded guilty March 12 to charges of murder, menacing by stalking and gross abuse of a corpse.

Authorities say Strouse killed the 23-year-old West Chester woman in August after stalking her since early 2018.

Prosecutors said the Liberty Township man placed a plastic wrap over Weik’s head, suffocating her. They said he wrapped her body in a blanket and placed it in a field.
