Ohio police charge man with attempted kidnapping of pre-teen child


CIRCLEVILLE, OH (WCMH) — A man has been arrested in Circleville and charged with attempting to abduct a pre-teen child.

According to the Circleville Police Department, at about 5:18pm, Monday, officers were called to the 400 block of E. Mound Street on the report of a man attempting to take a child.

Police say the man grabbed and restrained the child while placing his hand over the child’s mouth. The child was able to escape from the man before the suspect fled from the scene in a black truck.

Officers later arrested William Patrick Weaver, of Circleville after receiving several tips from citizens when the suspect’s information was shared over social media. 

Weaver was charged with attempted kidnapping, felonious assault and is being held in the Pickaway County Jail. 

Parents like Christopher Adams say they are on edge.

“My wife just said, she told her I was under a lot of stress because of it. I got them strapped and I don’t want them out of my sight make sure we keep an eye out on them,” said Adams.
