Ohio’s free fishing weekend set for May 4 and 5

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The free fishing weekend in Ohio has been announced.

According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio residences can fish without the use of a license on May 4 and 5 at any of the state’s public waters.

Free Fishing Days are open to all Ohio residents and extends to all state public waters, including Lake Erie and the Ohio River.

The ODNR asks that after the free fishing weekend, you consider buying a license to continue enjoying the sport.

An Ohio fishing license is $19, which is unchanged from last year’s price, and are valid immediately upon purchase.

The sale of fishing licenses, along with the Sport Fish Restoration program, continue to fund ODNR Division of Wildlife fish management operations.

To find out where you can go fishing, go to OhioDNR.gov.
