POLICE: Suspect Threw 'Explosive Device" At Cops During Pursuit

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV-(WOWK) - UPDATE: 2.24.2018 @ 10:00 p.m.

The names of the suspects in the pursuit have been released.

Matthew Stover and Zachary Brown have been charged with fleeing, possession of a stolen vehicle and using explosive devices to disable patrol vehicle and harm to officers.

Stover was the driver and Brown was the passenger.

According to the Criminal Complaint, Brown allegedly lit the propane tank and threw it at officers.

Stover is being housed at the South Central Regional on $25,000 cash only bond.

Zachary Brown has yet to be arraigned, he is still being treated for his injuries.

According to deputies with the Kanwaha County Sheriff's Department, suspects fleeing from officers with the Montgomery Police Department apparently threw an "explosive device" out the window at them.

The incident began about 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, right on the Kanawha/Fayette County line in Montgomery.

An officer with the Montgomery Police Department began a pursuit of a pick-up truck that was apparently stolen.

The chase went down Route 61 towards Cabin Creek, Wv.

While being pursued, the suspects threw a lit propane tank out the window at the pursuing unit.

The truck wrecked on Cabin Creek Road and rolled multiple times.

The two men were taken to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Officers found another propane tank in the suspect's vehicle.

No officers were injured during the pursuit.

The names of the suspects have not been released at this time.
