SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Melody Potter won election today to complete the term as West Virginia Republican Chair for outgoing Chair Conrad Lucas.
Potter was elected by acclimation of members of the West Virginia Republican Executive Committee at their Winter Meeting.
Unopposed in the final voting, Potter becomes the first woman to Chair the WVGOP.
“The number one task ahead for us is defeating Joe Manchin. Today, we are united to make that goal happen this fall,” said Potter.
“We have a job to do to finally set our state free of nearly 90 years of economic failure and growing government. Our policies and values are just. Just as we led the nation in voting for President Trump, Team West Virginia will lead the headlines in November when we finish this task in the U.S. Senate.”
Charleston businessman Larry Pack was elected to serve as the next National Committeeman to represent West Virginia at the Republican National Committee.
“It is amazing to see our Party at its greatest heights, but ready to fly even higher with conservative policies,” said outgoing Chairman Conrad Lucas.
“All the pieces are here for us. Our team and teammates are strong. We leave this Party after more than doubling our delegations and taking over the State Legislature, sweeping the House of Representatives, and helping to elect our first female Senator. It has been the blessing of my life to get to serve all of you this way.”
