River Ridge Church in Charleston is kicking off four free soccer camps in the Charleston area!
Big Kick Camp Director Betsy Shaak, along with the River Ridge staff, are getting snacks, t-shirts and coaches all lined up for this year’s massive soccer camp. She says, River Ridge has the opportunity to coach kids on soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting while teaching them about teamwork, leadership skills and Jesus. So far, over 200 kids have signed up and they hope even more will do on-site registration tomorrow! And don’t worry, if your child has never played soccer before, these camps are for any skill level. The church has been hosting these camps for over a decade.
“It is our community outreach, and this year we are super excited because 75% of the kids who signed up do not attend River Ridge Church,” said Shaak. “It is our opportunity to go into Kanawha County and teach kids about the gospel. They have a lot of fun playing soccer but they are also building relationship with the coaches.”
Again, these camps are free to every child. They will be held this Monday-Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Elk Center School, Sissonville Middle School and Trace Fork Soccer Complex. On-site registration starts at 5:30 p.m. And, if you can’t make these camps, there will be one more taking place June 18-21 on the West Side at the North Charleston Community Center.
