WASHINGTON, SC (CNN Newsource) – A Toyota executive is warning possible new tariffs by the United States could threaten its planned $750 Million investment in the US.
Jim Lentz, the head of Toyota North America, made the comments at the economic club of Washington, DC Friday.
The Japanese carmaker announced Thursday it plans to add nearly 600 new jobs at plants in Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
The investment would go to five of its 10 plants in the US.
Lentz warned Friday the tariffs President Donald Trump has threatened to impose on foreign vehicles would make it hard for Toyota to follow through on the investment.
