Ten local organizations and individuals were honored Tuesday afternoon as part of the Addiction Policy Forum’s “Innovation Now“ Awards Ceremony.
This comes as the nonprofit released it’s ‘West Virginia Innovations to Address Addiction: Ten Innovative Solutions that are Transforming Addiction Prevention, Treatment and Recovery,’ which spotlights innovative programs that address addiction and provide support for families and communities.
“West Virginians know all too well the devastation addiction has on families and communities,” says Jessica Hulsey Nickel, founder and CEO of Addiction Policy Forum. “We are honored to showcase and highlight programs that are making a difference within the community.“
The programs honored include: Boone County Drug Court, Handle With Care, Jackson County Anti-Drug Coalition, Jefferson Day Report Center, Lily’s Place, Project Hope for Women and Children, Providers Response Organization for Addiction Care and Treatment (PROACT), Quick Response Team, Recovery Point and Dr. James Berry, DO of West Virginia University.
“West Virginia has been hit hard by addiction, but there is hope,” says Mark O’Brien, Executive Vice President of Programs and Education at Addiction Policy Forum. “Our West Virginia Innovation Now report highlights 10 programs helping communities and saving lives.”
