A federal fugitive who sparked a manhunt earlier this week along Howell’s Mill Road has been arrested by officers with the Milton Police Department.
According to a Facebook post by the department, Pltm. T. Withers and Chief J. Parsons encountered Cruz Tovar, 29, of Ona on March 21, 2019 while responding to a call regarding a domestic dispute at Hickory Way Apartments.
Officers said a struggle ensued, but they were able to subdue Tovar.
A number of other officers, including deputies with the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department and troopers with the West Virginia State Police responded to the scene.
Officers said they found a .40 caliber weapon under Tovar’s seat in his apartment.
Tovar was charged with assault on a police officer, obstruction and prohibited person with a firearm.
In addition, he had outstanding warrants in Putnam County for possession of meth with intent to deliver and prohibited person with a firearm.
Tovar is being held at Western Regional Jail and on a $150,000, cash only bond.
