Glasgow Names New Interim Mayor

West Virginia

Donald Fannie has been named as the interim mayor of Glasgow.

The decision was announced at an emergency town hall Thursday evening. This is the third time the city of Glasgow has had a new mayor in the last year. Wayne Armstrong resigned from the position back in March of last year.

Earlier this week, his successor, Peggy Fisher, resigned from the position as well, leaving a note on the front of town hall. The resignation letter read, “Accept this as my letter of resignation immediately. Prayers for anyone who resumes this responsibility.”

The announcement came just days after a number of the town’s residents were without water as a result of several pipes bursting.

Marty Blankeship, Chief of the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department said the water main break had been repaired. However, the town is still under a precautionary boil order.

The town of Glasgow is currently under investigation by the State Auditor’s Office. The office subpoenaed at least the last four years of the town’s financial records in August of 2018.
