UPDATE (March 7, 2023, at 11:30 a.m.): The structure that caught fire in Jackson County, West Virginia, is a barn, according to a 13 News crew on the scene.
Dispatchers say the call originally came in as a garage fire but crews learned the structure was actually a barn once they got on the scene.
The barn’s owner tells 13 News that work was being done on the structure, which had electrical and heating equipment inside. Workers were adding metal sheeting to the barn before the fire on Tuesday, according to the owner.
There were no injuries, and one cat inside the home was unharmed, according to emergency crews. No one was in the barn during the fire.
JACKSON COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — According to 911 dispatchers, a large two-story structure fire was reported at 5679 Point Pleasant Road in Jackson County, West Virginia.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the fire started around 8:26 a.m. on Tuesday when the structure was fully engulfed.
JCSO confirms there are several fire departments on the scene.
