UPDATE (12:45 p.m., Jan. 31, 2023): There will be no charges for the driver who hit a person in St. Albans, West Virginia, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office says.

According to the KCSO, deputies responded to a pedestrian hit in the 100 block of Winfield Road around 9:45 p.m. on Monday. They learned the victim was dressed in dark clothes as he crossed the road and was hit by a vehicle.

Investigators say the driver followed all traffic laws, and witnesses told them the car was being operated in a safe manner.

The victim was taken to the Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital in critical condition with serious head injuries. He remains in critical condition as of Tuesday, authorities say.

KCSO says the driver was uninjured.

ST. ALBANS, WV (WOWK) — One person was taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle in St. Albans.

According to Metro 911 officials, the call came in just after 9:45 p.m. They say it happened in the 100 block of Winfield Road.

One person was taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Winfield Road opened back up just before 10:30 p.m.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, West Side Volunteer Fire Department and Kanawha County medics are on the scene.
