The star of the popular West Virginia-based network TV show, “Barnwood Builders” was at the Charlestion Coliseum and Convention Center Wednesday. Mark Bowe is host of the program. He’s here for the 40th annual West Virginia Construction and Design Show, but he and Senator Joe Manchin also spoke about Friday’s big Job Fair at the same location.
“I’m honored to be here. There’s so many cool things going on here. So many businesses that I didn’t know were available. There’s plummers here. There’s welders here. There’s architects here. There’s everything you’d want,” said Mark Bowe, host of “Barnwood Builders” on the DIY Network.
Many of the companies at the Construction Expo are hiring. And at least 270 companies and vendors will be at Friday’s Job Fair. There is a lot of opportunity.
“15-hundred jobs are going to be available, and they’re going to need good employees that want to work. But I’m encouraging people just to come to find out what it takes to get a good job. How do we get you preppared for a good job? How do we help you find a good job?” said Sen. Joe Manchin, (D) West Virginia, the Job Fair’s sponsor.
With all the road bond construction, and pipeline work in West Virginia, the Construction Expo is buzzing.
“Our members are going to be looking for skilled, qualified workers to enter the construction industry. And at expo this is a great opportunity to come down and learn about the industry. To learn about opportunities. To learn learn about education,” said Mike Clowser, of the WV Construction & Design Expo.
The Construction Expo runs through Noon Thursday. The Job fair is Friday. 11am to 3pm..
“The organizers of this Contruction Expo and the Job Fair say there is one, unifying message, and that is that West Virginia is open for business,” said Mark Curtis, 13 News Chief Political Reporter.
