BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) – Police in West Virginia say a man is charged with threatening to harm a pastor and a church congregation.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release 64-year-old Jerry Wayne Hall was charged with making terroristic threats and willful disruption of a church service.

The statement says Hall pushed over a pulpit Sunday at the New Beginnings Church in Beckley and indicated he had firearms. Churchgoers subdued Hall until deputies arrived. Five loaded firearms were found inside his vehicle.

The statement says that while Hall was being processed, he said multiple times he would return and finish the job when he got out of jail. Several firearms and ammunition were later seized at Hall’s residence.

Hall was being held on $83,000 bond Tuesday in the Southern Regional Jail. Jail records didn’t indicate whether Hall has an attorney.
