With Valentine’s Day approaching, a website has conducted a study to find out which states are the best and worst for single people in the U.S., and West Virginia has found itself at the bottom of the list.
The personal finance website WalletHub recently released a study titled “2019’s Best & Worst States for Singles,” which compared all 50 states across 28 key indicators of dating-friendliness. Some of these metrics include highest and lowest share of single adults, online and mobile dating opportunities, and numbers of restaurants per capita.
These 28 metrics were then used to create three rankings for each state, which were then used to determine a final ranking for each state. The three categories combined to make the final ranking were dating opportunities, dating economics, and romance and fun. West Virginia took the last-place-ranking in this study, and was named ‘2019’s Worst State for Singles.’ The Mountain State ranked in the bottom 10 across all of the three main categories, placing 47th in dating opportunities, 41st in dating opportunities and 44th in romance and fun.
West Virginia also placed in the bottom five of some of the individual rankings, according to the study. West Virginia ranked 50th in mobile dating opportunities and 48th in median annual household income (adjusted for cost of living). To view the full data from this study, click here.
