UPDATE: Man wounded in Charleston shooting identified; one man in custody, one on the run

CHARLESTON, WVa. (WOWK)-

UPDATE:

Charleston Police Department reports on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 9:30 PM, a shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Washington Street East on the parking lot of the Capitol Hotel in Charleston.  The victim, Kenoma Amman Tabb, 45 years old of Bluefield, WV, sustained gunshot wounds to multiple areas of his body including his shoulder and abdomen area.  Tabb was transported to CAMC General for treatment.  He is currently in serious condition. The suspect is unknown at this time, but was described as a young black male with a thin build wearing a blue hooded shirt and khaki pants.  After shooting Tabb, the suspect fled on foot across the Capitol Hotel parking lot toward the intersection of Shrewsbury Street and Washington Street.  Another male, Charles Richard Hayes, 35 years old of Charleston, was seen punching Tabb in the face several times after he was shot.  Hayes fled the area but was apprehended a short time later, arrested, and charged with battery.  Anyone with information about the shooting or the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Charleston Police Department at 304-348-8111.

One man is wounded and another on the run after a shooting in downtown Charleston. 

It happened on the 1000 block of Washington Street East. 

Police have set up a perimeter in the area as they search for the suspect who they describe as a black male wearing a light blue shirt and or hooded sweatshirt.
