UPDATE (9:01 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27): A Wayne County Schools Spokesperson tells 13 News that Coyan was “immediately restricted from school property” following the allegations.
“Wayne County Schools District Administrators were notified by School Administration of concerns regarding an adult having inappropriate communications with a student,” Chris Williams, Wayne County Schools Spokesperson, tells 13 News. “Administrators immediately notified the West Virginia State Police, Child Protective Services, and the family of the student. The adult in question was immediately restricted from school property. The investigation that ensued from the report to the West Virginia State Police has led to formal charges against the adult. Wayne County Schools will continue to cooperate with law enforcement. Due to the pending legal matter, we cannot comment further at this time.”
WAYNE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A woman is in custody after a Wayne County middle school reported her for possibly having a relationship with a minor.
According to the West Virginia State Police, 40-year-old Lindsay Coyan was arrested on Friday after Ceredo-Kenova Middle School officials reported her for possibly having a relationship with a minor.
Troopers say Coyan was a parent volunteer at the middle school.
Coyan is being charged with third-degree Sexual Assault, third-degree Sexual Abuse and Solicitation of a Minor.
Coyan is being held in the Western Regional Jail on a $128,000 bond.
