BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — A man is facing two misdemeanor charges after a dog was found dead in his home and another dog had to be put down due to starvation.
Bluefield police arrested George Wright Junior on Tuesday July 24, 2018. Police said they found the two dogs after receiving a complaint from a neighbor. Inside Wright’s home along Monroe Street in Bluefield, police said they found two dogs. One of the dogs was found dead. Police said the other dog could barely move due to starvation and had to eventually be put down.
Wright allegedly told police he was ‘working and got busy’ so he ‘didn’t have time to feed them.’
Wright is facing two counts of animal cruelty. Police said the charges are misdemeanors because in order to face felony animal cruelty charges in the state of West Virginia, there has to be malicious intent behind the animal’s death.
Wright is in jail on a $4,000 bond.
