Woman killed, husband arrested following UTV accident in WV

A woman is dead after a UTV accident in Rowlesburg Saturday afternoon.

Brieanne Dietz was a passenger on a UTV and was killed when the UTV crashed on Red Rock Road at approximately 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon, according to West Virginia State Police.

Her husband, John Dietz, III, 28, who was driving the UTV, was arrested following the accident and charged with DUI resulting in death, police said.

When authorities arrived on scene, they, along with a bystander, attempted to resuscitate Brieanne Dietz, but she succumbed to her injuries, police said.

Police said John Dietz showed signed of impairment including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol. He staggered and needed assistance walking, police said. 

John Dietz admitted to drinking alcohol before operating the vehicle, police said, and an empty Bud Light container was found underneath the vehicle.
