You may be eligible for $1,200 payment in Dish Network lawsuit

According a CBS News report, thousands of people are missing out on a chance to collect $1,200 through a class action lawsuit against Dish Network.

Lawyers involved in the suit say when they call people to tell them they are eligible, they often hang up, thinking it is a scam or a telemarketer calling.

Salespeople for Dish Network allegedly made 51,000 calls in 2010 and 2011 that violated the Do Not Call Registry.

A jury awarded $400 for each of those calls. A judge later tripled that to $1,200 per call.

Dish is appealing the ruling. The company blames an outside contractor which has since shut down, telling CBS News "these calls violated Dish's express instructions to the contractor."
