UPDATE (6:35 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27): The Ironton Police Department says that the man found dead is the grandfather of the man arrested.
UPDATE (11:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27): A man is in custody after another man was found dead and wrapped in a rug at an Ironton home.
Ironton PD says that sanitation workers told them a man tried to throw away several suspicious bags in their garbage truck. They say officers found bloody clothing in the bags.
Officers figured out where the man had come from, but as they tried to secure a search warrant for his residence, he fled. He was later arrested in Lucasville by Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies,
Ironton PD executed their search warrant at a residence on the 1200 block of South 9th St. and found 73-year-old Harold Pleasant, of Ironton, dead and wrapped in a rug under the home’s back deck.
22-year-old Kace Pleasant, of Ironton, is charged with murder, failure to comply with an officer, and murder.

IRONTON, OHIO (WOWK) — An arrest has been made in an investigation into a body found in Ironton.
The body was found on the 1200 block of 9th St. in Ironton, and Ironton Police say that the call originally came from the sanitation department reporting a suspicious item thrown in the garbage at around 8:00 a.m.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office says that they received a BOLO from Ironton Police about a suspect vehicle traveling through the area on Wednesday morning. They were able to locate the suspect in Lucasville, Ohio.
While in Scioto County, the arrested person also tried to steal a car from a woman outside a business, according to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital for medical reasons, and he will be released into the custody of Ironton PD.
Ironton PD says there is no danger to the public, but they’re asking people to avoid the area.
