New Food and Beverage Venues at Appalachian Power Park

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - "Go ahead and eat the meatball," says Reporter Mark Curtis, "How was that?"

"Wicked good! Wicked good!" replied fan Susan Levandoski.

"Take me out to the meatballs" may be the new song at Appalachian Power Park this season. The baseball venue is cooking up a new beach bar as an attraction to get more people to the West Virginia Power games. Located down the left field line, the beach bar does have sand, and a tiki-hut with cold beverages, and even cots where you can sunbathe this summer. The view of the playing field, spectacular. The fans love it!

"I'm here to have a great time tonight at the ballpark and to celebrate the opening of the beach bar," said Holley Durham, a WV Power Fan.

"I just wanted to create a really relaxed atmosphere up here. And have a lot of fun up here at the park," said Aaron Simmons, Director of Power Food & Beverage.

The beach bar will also have a special menu, with unique ballpark offerings. Take a look at these Ahi Tuna Tacos. So what's the verdict?

"Mmmmmmm wicked good! That's what we say in Maine. When any thing's really good, it's wicked good. That is really good!" said Susan Levandoski, a WV Power fan visiting from Maine.

So far, the Corona Beach Bar is a big hit.

"We really want to make this as friendly an environment as possible, and allow people to just come here and have a good time. Yes, we have baseball going on and if you want to watch the game, that's fantastic, but if not we have plenty of other opportunities at the ballpark for everyone for everyone to have a great time," said David Kahn, WV Power Director of Broadcasting and Media.

"Of course they do have that old ballpark song about buy me some peanuts and cracker jack, and they still do have that stuff here, but hey, this is way better," said Mark Curtis, 13 News Chief Political Reporter.
