Craigsville Fire Department Chief Killed in Crash

The Chief of the Craigsville Fire Department has passed away after a crash Wednesday morning.

According to the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a single vehicle accident in the Craigsville area on the Wednesday morning on Route 55.

When deputies and emergency crews arrived on scene, the driver, identified as Craigsville Fire Department Chief Timmy Blake appeared to have experienced a medical condition while driving, leaving the roadway into a ditch.

Blake passed away as a result of the crash. He had been a member of the Craigsville Fire Department since 1987, and had been Chief of the department for 23 years.

Members of the Sheriff’s Department extend their condolences to the Blakes and all of the fire family.
