UPDATE (10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023): Crews are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at a vacant home in Nitro this morning.
According to the Nitro Fire Department, crews responded to the fire on 39th Street around 7 a.m. Thursday morning. Crews say they found the fire in the bathroom the home and were able to get it quickly put out. No one was injured, the NFD says.
The NFD also says the home is scheduled to be demolished in two weeks as part of Nitro’s plan to clean up dilapidated buildings in the community.
NITRO, WV (WOWK) – Several crews are on hand for a working house fire in Nitro at the 3900 block of 39th street near the Putnam-Kanawha County line.
Metro 911 says the call came in after 7 a.m. Thursday. The Nitro, St. Albans, Institute, Poca and Teays Valley Fire Departments are assisting.
